About Human Resource Management
As the term suggests Human Resources Management is one of the important streams of
management. It deals with the following:
Studies human at work: It deals with the unique asset ‘human’. It advises us on how to deal with human assets.
It also studies various aspects of the relationship between the organization and
its employees. Human Resources Management
is the part of Management that deals with issues such as hiring, retaining,
firing, training, motivating, engaging, and controlling the human
resources. It is a comprehensive
approach to manage people and their workplace environment.
HRM
particularly examines humans at work and studies various aspects which are fundamental
to human motivation at work and in accomplishing their career aspirations
within organizations. It paves the way
for achieving organizational as well as employee goals.
Bridges the gap between employees and
employer: Human Resources Management is a link between employees and
employers and makes coordination between them. Effective HRM assists employees to contribute
productively to the growth of the company. It also advises the organization to improve
work culture and enhance the skills of employees. Sometimes Human Resource
Management is referred to as Organizational Management, Personnel Administration,
Manpower Management, Human Capital Management, or Industrial Management.
HR
department deals with various issues such as how to hire employees for the
organization? What type of employee is
most suited for the organization? How to
retain the employees? How to engage them
in various activities? HRM is also about
motivating the employees and make them prepare for aligning with the company’s
goal. HRM also deals with various
conflicts arising out of the egos of bosses and their subordinates and in fact
works as a facilitator between management and employees. Likewise, it also
works as a facilitator among different
departments. Human Resources Management
deals in organizational development, labor relations, compensation packages,
Payrolling, recruitment, talent acquisition, and retention, training, development, and employee wellness.
