Why prices of onions in Delhi continue to rise?

As we all know that the prices of onions are continuing to rise in Delhi. The reasons behind this can be explained in this article. They are as follows:

  • As we all know that the onions prices are being risen by 75% of the actual market price.
  • A heavy monsoon that damaged the crops and has caused a sudden spike in onion prices.
  • The situation is expected to remain the same at least a month.
  • In comparison to the past years it is estimated that the production of onions is halved in 2019.
  • Not even in Delhi but other metro cities like Bangalore etc. are also affected by this.
  • Now the question arises that how a middle-class family and the poor are able to cope with this situation.
  • Not only the common people but the farmers are also affected a lot by this.
  • The major onion producing states Karnataka, Maharashtra and Telangana are affected by the rain of October 1 to November 6. As they received 65% more rainfall than usual.
  • Farmers are affected by unseasonal rainfall and are not able to harvest their crops from fields submerged under rainwater.
  • Onions have crossed 100 rupees per kg in Delhi.
  • The government of Delhi has also provided aid to the Delhiites but the black marketers work as an obstacle in it.
We hope that the prices are being controlled so that anyone can give a taste of onion to their tongue!
